Most fine artists will tell you that what
is left out of a painting or a piece of literature is just as
important as what goes into it.
We, at DISTRAV, don’t presume to be
artists. But we approach what we will offer you every year with
that artistic principle in mind. We will only present you with
tour products whose quality merits being called “Crème de la
Crème” and whose prices can justifiably be called “fat free”.

are the best (or certainly one of the best) in their city or
resort, leisurely-paced itineraries that feature a predominance
of 3-and-4- night stays (compared to the abundance of
1-and-2-night stays---and packing and unpacking---that you’ll
find on a lot of our competitors’ tours), and the inclusion of
many more cultural attractions such as visits to art museums,
opera houses, and literary venues than you’ll find on comparable
deluxe tours.
And last, but certainly not least,
these DISTRAV vacations come to you at prices that range from
$1000 to $6000 less than similar tours that lack most or all of
the DISTRAV elements we’ve just mentioned.

What we have left out of our picture for
2008 are some of the destinations for which we have also been
famous---France, Italy, Spain and Portugal, the Low Countries.
The reason: the hotels and restaurants in these countries of
western Europe are giddy with the success that has come from
increased travel among the now highly-prosperous people of
western Europe. And since the standard of living in these
countries is significantly higher than ours they have priced
their rooms and meals at rates that are mind-boggling to most
Americans. Couple this with the collapse of the dollar versus
the euro and it becomes obvious that to provide you with truly
“Crème de la Crème” quality in these countries would require us
to charge you prices that would be ludicrous to call “fat free”,
even if we simply passed them along at cost without any markup
at all to cover our expenses and the salaries of our dedicated
staff.
We feel this situation will change before
2009 rolls around and, if it does, you may be sure we will
return then to these destinations. |
